As a small majority fancied doing something different for the next MDPL day/ night out, we'll postpone the next golf outing until the spring.

Meantime, I've put a new poll on, so let us know which of the 3 options you would prefer and we'll try to get something organised fairly soon. Cheers

Also, at the Registration meeting, we will let you know what the next MDPL event will be (its either going to be fishing or karting). I will be looking to organise this for sometime between 1st & 23rd October, depending on availability.

If its fishing, I will be trying to organise a charter boat out of Dunbar and will hope to use the league subsidy to pay for a minibus. Costs per person will be around £25.
If its Karting, it will be at Scotkart in Cambuslang and I would hope to use the league subsidy for the Karting costs, with everyone making their own way there. Costs for this would probably be around £20 each. All costs dependant on numbers of people

So, last chance, get your votes in.....

Can the Motherwell League afford to hire the QE2, they'll need a boat that size for me, Mark and Broon to fit in

Right, there has been a lot of discussion on the SPA site (amoung others) regarding the SPA's "Choice policy". There is a possibility that a vote will be held at the next SPA meeting, so I would like to get our members thoughts (and those of our other site users) as if asked to vote, I would like to represent our members fairly.

Whilst this policy will only directly affect possibly 30-40% of our players, it does have possible ramifications for Scottish pool in future years.
If this doesn't mean anything to you, you can find more info and discussion at http://www.scotti...rowstart=0

But basically the rule says that if you play our rules (Blackball) and play through SPA affiliated leagues, then you cannot go and play in competitions in Scotland that use other rulesets. Some people now want that changed.

I'm sure this simplistic view will be expanded on on this forum, but if you can give us your vote, then i'll know which way to go if asked to vote for MDPL at an SPA meeting

cheers

The SPA has grown brilliantly in the past 10-15 years through alot of hard work done behind the scenes. Interest in Scottish Pool has increased rapidly and this is seen in IM numbers, superleague teams and the sheer amount of events on the calander - hardly a free weekend.

In short the SEPF hasnt, hasnt put the work in that the SPA has (not even close) has been run poorly and relys too much on their main league - Aberdeen. Personaly i dont see what the SPA has to gain by dropping the choice policy apart from seeing a Scottish team compete at the World Championships with guys like Jayson, Goobs, John Mac etc.

I say let the SEPF come merge with the SPA under BB rules or keep the choice policy, keep growing and expanding the way we are and the SEPF leagues will end up coming over to the SPA anyway leaving them with nothing to do but fold.

all just personally speaking ofcourse.

Blinkered view Stevie.

FYI, the split in rules and organisations are nearly 20yrs old......yep, you read it almost 20yrs old........with no change whatsoever on both sides of the fence.

So what on earth gives you the slightest impression that they will fold in the near future?

Sorry, but that's just plain crazy and you are being brainwashed by the hitlers.

FYI, if you read the SEPF posts they are growing in numbers but would like to see all Scottish players competing against one another at either rules.

All this scaremongering that it will affect the SPA is nonsense.

Don't you hear all the grumbles (year on year) about EBA run events or do you just choose to ignore that?

Yes the SPA have done well and they would grow even more with the game opened to all..........and those coming over may just see the benefits of staying with BB.

But don't let any of that get in your way, eh!

This is why people with very little knowledge on subjects who come onto websites and say things as if they know it all but actually know very little.........apologies for that slant but that is not just here but on many forums worldwide and it riles me up, hence the reason for me very rarely posting.

Rant over.

point taken Pat... However Iam not professing to be an oracle on the subject im just giving my own personal view on somthing iv been reading about more and more recently.

although i applaud SEPF for approaching the table first with the olive branch, im just a little skeptical as to why and why now.

was hoping the post would spark a bit of debate...

No offence jb but I think you are very wrong putting a poll on here and then saying if the spa have a vote on the choice policy then you will know what way to vote? There are a lot of players in the league who don't use the Internet who are entitled to there own views and should be entitled to there vote the same as the rest of us.

As the league rep, I have to (in my opinion) vote/ express the views of our membership. I do not have the time to canvass all the players individually, so the most efficient way for me to get opinions is via the web. If anyone wants to get in touch with me outwith the site, most people already have my number (07854 501664).

Personally, I think doing it this way is much better than just voting what I feel is right....... As a lot of reps will do.

Lesser of 2 evils I think we call it
